While we get ready for Paris Fashion Week, here are some things inspiring our Autumn / Winter collection 'On A Clear Day, You Can See Forever'. If you follow Karen Mabon on Instagram, you'll already know that her inspiration comes from everywhere...
1. Huis Sonneveld, Rotterdam
On a trip to Rotterdam, Karen came across the Sonneveld House. Blocks of yellow in the bedroom, red kitchen cabinets and the most perfect blue bathroom. The modernity of the house comes from its Dutch Functionalist style, which has been renovated and recreated.
2. Josef Frank
Karen loves exploring the works of Josef Frank, which are an endless source of inspiration with their colours, flowing prints and motifs.
3. Bernadette Corporation, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam
Fragmented stories of aliens and couples in hotel rooms are framed on the walls of the Bernadette Corporation exhibition. These sporadic stories and the disjointedness of the exhibition was a thought-provoking experience.
4. Desert Island Discs
Our studio playlists are interspersed with podcasts and Desert Island Discs. Some of our favourites include Jarvis Cocker, Nicole Fahri, Shirley Hughes and Zhandra Rhodes. This snap of Zhandra Rhodes in her studio is really making us want to redecorate.
5. René Magritte
Woman With a Cigarette, 1935.
