Behind the Print: Botanical Gardens

After exploring London’s very own Kew Gardens, Karen was inspired by the intricate details on the Calla Lily to create this Botanical Garden print.
Karen has had a long love for botany, making Kew Gardens an endless inspiration source. Exploring the gardens last year, Karen saw a vintage poster that sent her down a road of inspiration. With a deep love for vintage design, Karen took a limited colour palette inspired by the 50’s and artists such as Barnett Freedman and Barabara Jones. Each colour in this print was tried and tested and has a meaning to the aesthetic of the print as a whole.
Her love for Botany also led her to research the star of this print: the calla lily. By having one flower as the star, Karen loved how she could tone down her florals and provide something more minimalist and showcase the beauty of a single species.
Featuring swans and storks exploring this floral oasis, the thoughtful print is displayed on a peach background.
